Some people have gotten closer to the mark. All Nintendo really needs is more capacity to do everything they want to do and need to do. If we can't get them to stop making GameCube-style games, the least they could do is build more in-house teams so that they could make more of everything. A major external acquisition wouldn't help, unless they picked up a company that really gelled with the Nintendo style; they need to get out there and build more teams and start poaching talent, so that they can just make more games across the board

Exactly.

Another thing is, actually promoting the games made by these teams. Sure, they bought Monolith in 2007, but how many Monolith games have made it to America?

Nintendo is on a giant slope downwards, and a major part of it is due to their 'xenophobia' of outside help; they want to do everything alone.

No, i'm saying they *can* do it alone, they just need to make themselves bigger. EAD Tokyo was a good start, and they're supposed to have a new R&D center coming up in Kyoto in the next two or three years. That's what they need to pursue aggressively: making it so that they can go it alone, simply by making their internal groups bigger

Outsourcing old titles generally hasn't worked in the past, except to Next Level Games, whom they should totally lock down, but StarFox hasn't fared too well being passed around like a joint...

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
