Also needs to be said this is a UK add. Which means it will never come over here. Nintendo of America can , and will find a better way than this.
Also looks at above post! Spoken like a pure Malstromite. Nintendo hasn't launched any system sense the SNES with a game the so called consumer wants. If anything the 3DS one major flaw is not having a real 3DS game. The Wii success is all about the Wii series each game using the controls of the system. The DS finally touch of with the Touch Generation games that used the DS features in a interest way. If Nintendo can create a real 3DS game then and only then will the 3DS take off. Throwing 2D Mario, Brain Age, and other games like that. Are not going to help any system if you can get the exact same thing on a cheaper console. The 3DS needs new software that you can only get on the 3DS! |
That has to be the main reason that it isn't selling, software. Screw the price, and consumer perception, those may not have had as big an affect as Nintendo thought, just look at the preorders. They should have waited to launch it when quality games were available, and they shouldn't have given 3rd parties the entire launch window. One potential 3DS game that is a "true" 3DS game, is Steel Diver, but that never got much attention. There is more in the pipeline, and if Nintendo wants to sell the 3DS, they need original titles.
Now about the ad, it was good, but unorthodox, given Nintendo's marketing schemes in the past. They should have launched with ads like these if they wanted to change consumer perception right out of the gate. I would like to see more ads like this, but with a Nintendo feel.
