This isn't really bad news. A 3DS in the hands of a gamer is still better than a 3DS sitting in a store.

Hardware isn't like software, used game console sales is almost as good as new ones, hell it's just as good if it's selling at cost and better if it's selling at a loss. Though the fact that the console was sold to store in the first place isn't good.
