I think the head of the project (in Zelda's case, Eiji Aonuma) is not focused enough. Skyward Sword received a hugh overhaul in its development, because Aonuma originally planned to not use Wii Motion Plus at all. Pretty much the entire game needed to be revamped afterwards which costs time and money. When you start making a game you need to have a good idea of what it is going to be instead of having a "let's see where this is going to lead us" approach which is what something like "let's turn Link into a wolf this time" is. I don't hate Nintendo and I certainly don't think that they have made many half-baked games this gens. |
When the SS development had started the Wii motion + wasn't there yet. Adjusting the game to use it may be like a waste of time/monry form a certain point of view but on the other hand it will help them to have a better knowledge of their own hardware, and how to use it in the future (on WiiU at this point). One of the most annoying things about the Wii IMO is how all these years motion controls have remained under-developed even by Nintendo, this new Zelda is actually the fist mainstream game to use the Wiimote in a really relevant way (except for the pointer funtionality) and how long it took? 5 years, about time.
