It's a CD key. If anything this just shows that even in DRM the consoles take around a decade or more to catch up.

Not really that simple. On PC, I doubt it's very common that CD keys are in use unless the game has online accounts that use the CD key, which is not very common for older games.

I can install and play single-player Starcraft with any CD-Key, but I can't get online unless it's unique. That was 13 years ago.

AFAIK there's tons of games that only check that they key is not in use at the same moment, not if it's never been used.

Yea, that is what Starcraft does.  I think what he is saying though, is that do you really trust somebody else to not have copied down the CD key, and just continue playing the game after selling it?

Personally, I'm actually honest, apparently unlike some people, so people who have bought games like that from me in the past have had 0 issues whatsoever.  I don't know that I would trust buying games like that from somebody else, however.

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.
