Aonuma would never make a shooter, because he despises reflex based gameplay. He admitted to hating the original The Legend of Zelda, so of course he is the wrong man to be in charge of the series. Zelda should be made by someone who actually likes Zelda. If Aonuma had his way, then Zelda would probably be completely dead by now as it would have become more of a Professor Layton game than fighting monsters, because that's the type of gameplay he personally enjoys. Part of getting Zelda back on track for a painless development process would be removing Aonuma from the series, because he really has no business making it.

Aonuma was also the director of Majora's Mask; I don't know that removing him from future Zelda projects is necessarily a good thing.

Remember that Nintendo has a lot of first and second party studios.  As you mentioned, perhaps better management of said resources are needed.  Outsourcing things like graphic textures or even the story elements you mentioned while EAD 3 worked on the core elements would cut down dev time while maintaining the quality we all expect from a Zelda game.

The last thing I would want is to somehow compromise one project (particularly Zelda) in order to squeeze out more games that may or may not sell better.  It's true that sales of say, Twilight Princess, are laughable compared to Wii Sports Resort or Wii Play, but there are also major under-performers like Wii Music as well.

I realize your intent isn't to suggest that Nintendo go with making nothing but Wii ____ games over and over, but think about the fact that 13 years from now, many of the current hottest sellers will be nothing more than a fleeting memory while things like OoT find new life on new systems because of their timeless quality.
