C'mon man, Nintendo have survived much MUCH worse periods than this so I think predictions of their demise are a bit premature at this point in time.
I don't get it. When I first heard about the price cut my initial reaction was 'Thank god they came to their senses'...not 'My God...it's the end!'. I see it more as putting right what was wrong before any real damage is done. The price cut HAS made the 3ds more appealing in many people's eyes so how is that a negative?
(and I'm pretty excited about the ambassador program. It's better than nuffin and there's a few games in there I don't own anymore and wouldn't mind...fusion and yoshi's island to name but 2.).

I never predicted Nintendo would bite the dust, I barely even hinted that I speculate that. I simply said a price cut and such is a bad thing for Nintendo. The fall of Nintendo stocks in value is also a horrible tragic event. I then later mentioned how important Nintendo is to the industry and said if they went down so would most of the industry. I wasn't speculating they are going down infact I think they could survive a loss of 3DS and WiiU if they had too.

169.99$ is not coming to their senses. If they are loosing money on the hardware then it is not a smart buisness decision and isn't like Nintendo. Nintendo never looses money on hardware and never should look at what happened with PS3 and 360? They made so much less money then Nintendo did. Look at PS2/X-Box both sold at a loss to begin with and infact Microsoft ended the generation at a massive loss. Sony infact turned less profit from their successful PS2 then Nintendo did on GameCube/GBA.

Fact is if its bad for Nintendo its bad for us the consumer. You may be saying yay its cheaper that 80$ saved. But that is what 6-8 games that could be developed with that lost money. Less profit for Nintendo means less games and content for us, then it means less R&D which means less hardware upgrading. Less money then means investors jump ship, less investors means the company is easier to take over. The company being easy to take over means someone might take it over.

In the end Nintendo taking a loss on each unit will mean millions if not over a billion in damage to Nintendo. Which will directly effect us the consumer. So no their is no reason to rejoice or be happy. It may be nice temporarily to pay 80$ less but you'll be complaining when Nintendo can't pump out the same amount of software or support you as much as they could in the past!
