Piracy is usually a result from hacking no? I agree that not everyone who hacks wants to pirate but imo, they are few and far between.

And how does someone hacking their console ruin your own enjoyment of your own console? Just because some people use knives to kill people doesn't mean knives should be banned. Punish the ones doing illegal things, instead of punishing everyone regardless.

psn going down is the first one that comes to mind.
psp no longer getting any useful updates instead of security updates every other day. In my opinion, the moment a console is hacked, the moment its makers stop adding the good stuff, instead most of their attention turns to fighting or limiting the hackers.

psn going down had nothing to do with hacking your own hardware. that involved accessing other peoples hardweare, mainly sony's.
I could be wrong but didn't the psp get many features because of what the homebrew scene did? Did the homebrew scene not act like a competitior to sony and force them to add the same features that they did?
You mentioned hacking your own hardware, but you are talking about the results of hacking other peoples hardware, two very different things. Especially since one is legal and one is not.

I'm fine with people hacking their own consoles for personal use, but it's when they release said hack and people use it to ruin other people's games (e.g online gaming and cheaters.)
