What does "mass production effect for the hardware" means??? and hardware sales?

If im not interpreting right, it sound s like hes saying: until this mass price cut effect takes place for the hardware, there will be a loss in hardware sales(because people will be waiting for the pricedrop) .

Dam does anyone have a link where he just says loss per hardware in English jeez.

When parts are mass produced, the price of production per individual part goes down. Once these cost savings are realized, the 3DS won't be sold at a loss anymore.

The context of Iwata's statement is pretty clear, I am not sure what's so hard to understand about it. He says that Nintendo will lose money for every 3DS sold once the price cut has taken effect. He expects that the 3DS will be sold at a profit once the system is produced in higher volumes than it currently is.

This is what I thought before but I have never seen the term "mass production effect"  used for 'reduced manufacturing costs' before. If the words 'price cut' got mistook for 'production'  or somethin this sentence means something entirely different
