At this point it means nothing.

DS didn't destroy PSP due to its price alone. It destroyed the PSP due to software.

Look at DS' history, it sold about as good as 3DS is now until Nintendogs released followed by Brainage. Once those came out, it was full steam ahead.

3DS now has a far more mass market friendly price. It now needs to forgo the 10 year old ports and focus on compelling new games.

It is interesting that, if you look at people who post on sites like this, they get all excited when it is "10 year old ports" or old IP being brought up again.  If a system lacks that, the complaints is that it lacks "hardcore" titles, or whatever.  People got all excited here about how it had everyone signed up, and the 3DS was getting 3rd party support.

I'm referring to N64 titles being 3D'd and re-released. Not gaining IPs that are commonly referrred to as "hardcore" titles. Instead of N64 games, they should be bringing out the new SMB and new Kid Icarus at launch... as well as popular AAA 3rd party games.

People were getting excited at IP that was at least 10 years old, from what I saw.  People saw MGS3 and were all ooo and ahh about it.  Same with the other stuff.  That WAS the stuff people got excited about and considered it "hardcore".  I see it hard for any new IP to be taken as placating any of the "hardcore" out there at all, particularly with the release of a new platform.  I see stuff like Steel Diver getting panned.  What gets considered "hardcore"?  The old IP does.
