Yeah, I think Nintendo sees the market differently.
For handhelds, they have the competition of cell phones and of the DS.... they have to make a sacrifice, that's the assured revenues on hardware.
For consoles... whatever they do, they will be cheaper than the competition (Sony and MS cannot just 1up their console, they have to make a real new gen.... though N will probably not be as far behind in power as this gen), but they might now be convinced that the market needs an agressive approach from the start. After all, the game is different even for consoles now, there are 3 of them surviving a gen, it used to be barely 2.
