trasharmdsister12 said: Another thing to consider is that the DS debuted in the holiday season in NA and Japan and much later in other markets (Feb-March for Europe/Australia) while the 3DS launched everywhere in March. Great idea though! We definitely need something like this around here to put things in clearer perspective. |
A comparison to the GBA which launched in a similar time of the year would be even less favorable.
Japan 21 weeks in
GBA March 21
3DS February 26
GBA - 2,958,748
3DS - 1,259,505
Mixing Media Create and VGC for week 22 shows a 77,325 gain for the GBA (109,151 vs 31,826)
America 16 weeks in
GBA June 11
3DS March 27
GBA - 2,305,071
3DS - 1,097,629
55,542 favor for the GBA (79,930 vs 24,388)
Europe 17 weeks in
GBA June 22
3DS March 25
GBA - 1,120,721
3DS - 944,112
23,593 favor for the GBA (42,412 vs 18,819)
Overall
GBA - 6,384,540
3DS - 3,301,246
Also at the OP, the 3DS hasn't been out for 26 weeks anywhere, so are you sure your numbers are correct?
EDIT: I'm getting 5,043,808 for the 21st/16th/17th Japanese/American/European week.
Also 153,577 for that 'week' (which is actually three seperate weeks for each territory).
