I'm not sure if Metroid is better then Mario, but Mario is over rated. The Metroid Prime games, and 2D shooters are just phenominal if you ask me, the only bad Metroid made was Other M. Mario fluctuates more, Galaxy is amazing, Super Mario 64 was amazing, Sunshine was okay, but I really don't like the 2D interations.
