But for clarification I am talking about handheld gaming only.

Factor in the explosion of casual gaming via smartphones, social media and tablets then factor in the biggest economic meltown of all time and you see why convergence is CLEARLY going to have a negative effect on handhelds over the next 2 or 3 years.   I am not saying handheld gaming is declining, I am saying it is shifting focus.

I dont get why people refuse to see this.

The shift of focus in handheld gaming would be the consequence of the decline of the current handheld gaming.

But coming back as to why this is happening, the economic meltdown only accentuates the high price, though even in good times it would be too high for the 3DS, and that's only part of the problem. The explosion of smartphones, social media and tablets is irrelevant to the terrible situation the 3DS is in. All those things are either on PC's or handheld PC's. Gaming on these things is just a secondary function, and as history shows, with the NES, PC's and video game consoles don't compete directly with each other.

So why do people keep saying that nonsense?
