Your argument is 100% false.
Just because the WiiU is upgrading its power does not mean they are ignoring the core... Its about having the best hardware base to continue to push the medium forward and provide experiences that were not possible before.
Had Wii been $100 more at launch with power closer to 360 it would have been not only just as successful, but FAR more due to not being robbed of proper 3rd party support. People would still have clamoured for Wii Sports in the same look and feel, but they would have stopped a lot of 2nd console purchase as well as caught all those who really wanted the 3rd party AAA.
I know I would never have purchased a PS3... maybe we should make a new thread to discuss this as its OT.
