All right, through extensive help from GameFaqs, i have now doubled my attack and defense. Out of interest, why didn't you bother to collect all heart pieces?

Time, i suppose. It took me an hour and a half to get the color dungeon and the seashell pieces.
Unless the final dungeon is short, then i'd have time to pick up the 10 pieces i'm missing, but it wouldn't be worth it. Not with double defense
