They have to a least make sure that the lines run fast and that there is less build up. Otherwise you will just have the crazies blowing up people waiting in line. When there is more people in lines than on planes (plus no one has been checked yet in the lines) then you can see that people in lines are pretty vulnerable. Yeah definitely they need to keep things efficient. If it gets to the point where lines take forever then it would really get annoying and I could see people blowing themselves up in line like you say.
I just think safety is the top priority which is why I'm not against a little bit of racial descrimination when appropriate. I know its wrong to hassle people based on religion, but you don't see a whole ton of white North Americans/Europeans or Asians blowing up planes compared to people from the Middle East. I'm not being racist here, just stating fact.
