I wouldn't argue that they know how to make blockbusters year after year. Microsoft has survived this gen taking huge third party exclusives from Sony, fundinng second party and gathering a wealth of third party titles in the formative years of the console. Their only  first party Blockbuster is Halo. It's the only first party title they have that has people wrapping around corners. The rest are all third party. Gears will be the last and the rest will be multiplat. The thing Microsoft has a strong force in is the multiplayer online shooter market, which will serve them well if they keep that base covered for next gen.
