I think the main issue is with some devs not knowing what they are doing to be honest.
Like the 3D effect on the Sonic Generations demo on XBox live is appaling. Its garbage. Even with low resolution it shouldn't be this bad. I haven't seen many Ps3 games in 3D, but the general concensus on 3D forums is that they are not good.
I think the biggest obsticle for Sony trying to push 3D as they are is that they are not creating a 3D driver themselves and then letting game companies build games around it. It would be much easier for game companies to grab a default 3D driver like the one Nvidia or IZ3D have, and just build a game around it with best results possible.
