I'm not trying to bash Nintendo, I never was. Anyway
oniyide beat me to what I was going to tell you about 3rd parties, so i will build on what he said: People bought the PS2, because like he said, there were more hardcore games, and a better balance. To be honest, I don't see that same balance happening with the 3DS, if the Vita makes a huge splash. Why? Because hardcore gamers will probably flock to the Vita, and if anyone knows it best it's Nintendo, 3rd party devs can and will jump ship. that is the problem here. You said in a later comment that it's the presence of good games that sell consoles. If Nintendo is targeting the hardcore, couple the Vita with the kids games on the 3DS, and it may not do well in the face of the hardcore. Once again, I'm not trying to troll Nintendo. If the hardcore gamer isn't there, what will 3rd parties do? Jump ship. The 3DS's software lineup will be closer to the PSP then the DS's, but I doubt it will achieve the same balance as the PS2 did. This is the problem with the shovelware, ad why I mentioned hardcore gamers in the OP. I think you may have misunderstood what I was trying to say in the OP. I hope this cleared it up for you. |
I hear where your coming from, i do. I still believe you are worrying for nothing, do you not think that DS, GBA, GBC had a good balance of games overall. Why would you think 3DS would be different, IMHO most consoles release have had a good balance, ill go so far to say that the WIi is the only console i can think of where the ratio of shovelware/kiddy crap far outweighed actual legit third party core efforts. One could argue that PS360 is imbalanced as well but heavily favors core games, but hey thats one thing you wont hear me complaning about
