Ahh. I had hoped that my point was so self evident that I need not explain it. Apparently not. Listen up.

Firstly, these games may not be considered shovelware, I haven't played them, some or all may well be good kids games.

That aside, and much more importantly, my point was that the PS2 and Wii, the two most successful home consoles ever (and please don't point out that the PS1 has still got a slight lead on the Wii, it ain't gonna last), are also the two consoles most associated with kids games and shovelware. This is because developers of kids games and shovelware are perfectly capable of recognising the most popular console, and because the existence of kids games and shovelware further drives hardware sales and revenue for the console they are on.

The fact that the Wii has kids games/shovelware only proves my point.
The fact that the gamecube has kids games/shovelware is no impediment to my point - just because shovelware generally tends to flock to, and cause, a successful console, doesn't mean that it is entirely absent on other consoles.

I believe the cause of your misinterpretation was because you assumed that my point was "how dare you say bad things about Nintendo! In return, I shall say bad things about Sony." I assure you, I really don't give a shit what console maker you like.

I'm not trying to bash Nintendo,  I never was. Anyway

oniyide beat me to what I was going to tell you about 3rd parties, so i will build on what he said:

People bought the PS2, because like he said, there were more hardcore games, and a better balance. To be honest, I don't see that same balance happening with the 3DS, if the Vita makes a huge splash. Why? Because hardcore gamers will probably flock to the Vita, and if anyone knows it  best it's Nintendo, 3rd party devs can and will jump ship. that is the problem here. You said in a later comment that it's the presence of good games that sell consoles. If Nintendo is targeting the hardcore, couple the Vita with the kids games on the 3DS, and it may not do well in the face of the hardcore. Once again, I'm not trying to troll Nintendo.

If the hardcore gamer isn't there, what will 3rd parties do? Jump ship. The 3DS's software lineup will be closer to the PSP then the DS's, but I doubt it will achieve the same balance as the PS2 did. This is the problem with the shovelware, ad why I mentioned hardcore gamers in the OP.

I think you may have misunderstood what I was trying to say in the OP. I hope this cleared it up for you.
