| Doobie_wop said: The difference between now and 2005 is substantial, the internet wasn't as widespread, it wasn't as large of a haven as it is today for gaming communities and a games reliance on the internet is far more important today than it was back in 2005. Demons Soul's would have sold absolutely nothing back in 2005, it would have died at retail and it would have maybe gone down as a gem, but thanks to the internet and the current strength of gaming communities and ease of access to games it was able to sell well over a million copies and was extremely profitable. The Last Guardian also has a fanbase to fall back on and thanks to the substantial amount of press and community interest that has been given to the game, the 'franchise' is far more well known today than it was back when Shadow of the Colossus released. I also never said that their games will sell millions and millions of copies, but a solid 1.5 million is likely and that'd be enough for it to be a profitable game. Let's not forget that Shadow of the Colossus also managaged to sell 1.5 million copies, it's sequel should do as well, but at a much faster rate. The cat is funny because the fish is biting it's tail. |
Yes, it will probably sell those 1.5 milions, maybe even 2 thanks to the hype it's getting, but that doesn't invalidate my point that Team Ico's games are not for everyone. And the fact that we are assuming it will get the same sales than it's predecessors make it obvious.
PD. Yes , it's the fish who eats the cat
