Just shut up and stop bullshitting. The only 3rd party games I've ever seen advertised for the Wii are ones where Nintendo has stepped in with marketing. Monster Hunter 3 is a perfect example of this. Anyway, I don't at all get this 'Nintendo don't do anything for 3rd parties' talk. IMO Nintendo has done as much for 3rd parties as either Sony or Microsoft, in many respects they have done more. Here are some examples:
Localising 3rd party games to other markets - Examples include Trauma Centre and Inazuma Eleven for Europe, Prof Layton and Samurai Warriors 3 for the West, Epic Mickey and Goldeneye for Japan, etc Advertising the hell out of 3rd party games - As I stated earlier, MH3 is a good example. DQIX is another. Letting Capcom design the CCPro - Has Sony or Microsoft done something like this? I don't know Miyamoto designing a minigame for SW3 - Again has Sony or Microsoft done this? Bundles with 3rd party games - Sony and MS also do this. But I still don't see know Nintendo 'rip off' 3rd parties, in particular the ones that work with Nintendo Actually making games for 3rd parties - Genius Sonority made DQS for Square-Enix, same with Brownie Brown making London Life for Level-5 Letting 3rd parties use Nintendo IPs - Used not as much as last gen, but still frequently. Pretty much guarentees 3rd parties will make a large profit. Recent example is Square-Enix with Mario Sports. Going to 3rd parties to develop games - Pilotwings Resort is a good recent example, so is OoT 3D. I don't see how letting a 3rd party develop a remake of the highest rated and arguably the best game of all time is 'ripping them off'. Sending 1st party developers to assisting in the development of 3rd party games - Retro Studies helping with the development of Red Steel 2 is the 1st example that comes to mind. However, despite your wild claims about the Conduit, I'm pretty sure Nintendo helped with the online of the game, in particular the Wii Speak element.
And IMO most importantly...
Launching a major peripheral with entirely 3rd party games at launch - Wii Motion Plus launch with only 3rd party games (Grande Slam Tennis and Tiger Woods I think), the 1st Nintendo game wasn't launch until a month later. Sony and MS didn't do this with Move and Kinect respectively, both launched with some 1st party games. I really don't see how this 'rips off' 3rd parties as you believe. |
No matter what they do for the few third parties you listed, you can sum up all of the sales and it wouldn't even come close. I can make it a list too, but its stupid. Because you know that third parties don't want to develop for a system that is just gonna destroy them with mario advertisments. You can say they helped them, but it obviously wasn't nearly enough. And how does localizing games even count? Sony does this in thier sleep. I can probably name hundreds. Hell, even MS has done it better this gen. Its not BS, its me being mad at nintendo for not manning up, and bending over for other amazing developers. Atleast enough so that they could sell a platformer on thier system. Oh and btw, Monster hunter is one of the biggest ips in japan. Yet look at how bad it did in the US, oh i wonder why. Surely its Capcoms fought for abondoning thier own ip.
Edit: oh and btw again, get a grip, its a forum.
