Something to bear in mind is that Japan's disaster earlier this year hit Sony's finances hard. They will be looking hard at avoiding a price cut as long as possible. And in their current position, with Kinect kicking ass and the Wii floundering, Microsoft has no reason to cut the price if Sony don't.
I am not saying there will be no cut this year, just that it isn't a forgone conclusion.
