"I don't think a single person nerd raging about RE: The Mercenaries has even played the game. I'm guessing most don't even currently own a 3DS."

That's a strawman, as it assumes this is based specifically on the game and system, instead of a principle that would apply to any game and any system.

Address the entire post before labeling it a "strawman."(1)

Mercenaries in particular is not a game that makes use of multiple saves unlike regular RE games where the core of the game is a campaign mode. (2)

And frankly, until Capcom releases RE: Revelations, with a single file, no reset save system, the argument is making a pretty broad assumption that ALL future Capcom 3DS games will use the same save system.(3)

This is really only an issue on chip based formats that save data on the game itself, which isn't running any assumptions. It currently means DS or 3DS. (4)

1. You're assuming I'm callikng the whole post a strawman. I only quoted the part that made the strawman comment.

2. It's not about whether the game uses multiple saves, but accommodating multiple players. As for the other RE games, I hope you are calling on 5 for only having one at a time.

3. The point is we want to make sure it doesn't happen, not just assume they will leave it out. It shouldn't have even been in this game, as it takes choices away from the gamer for no reason.

4. That and the upcoming Vita. And it's fortunate that current disc systems allow access to save files. That had better not change.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
