Address the entire post before labeling it a "strawman."
Mercenaries in particular is not a game that makes use of multiple saves unlike regular RE games where the core of the game is a campaign mode.
And frankly, until Capcom releases RE: Revelations, with a single file, no reset save system, the argument is making a pretty broad assumption that ALL future Capcom 3DS games will use the same save system.
This is really only an issue on chip based formats that save data on the game itself, which isn't running any assumptions. It currently means DS or 3DS.
