| Resident_Hazard said: If Nintendo is truly interested in targeting the "hardcore" demographic with the Wii U, the smartest possible thing they can do right now (besides allowing up to four tablet controllers to be used at once) is to target the damn hardcore demographic RIGHT NOW. They have a year before Wii U launches, and all the Wii has coming out is Zelda and Kirby. Not good enough. That allows for more than enough time for gamers to just forget about the Wii brand before the new system launches. If they dropped Xenoblade, Kirby, Zelda, Last Story, and Pandora's Tower every other month until Wii U launches, then they'll keep people focused on the Wii brand and have a better chance of a successful launch. This would also go a long way toward convincing us hardcore gamers that Nintendo really and truly cares about appealing to us. |
The problem is they are thinking of hardcore gamers as the preteen kids who make racists and homophobic comments playing COD and Halo on Xbox Live. For whatever reason, that's now become the standard definition of "hardcore" thrown around by G4 and the media. That's the group that would never be caught dead with a Nintendo console.
I think hardcore gamers like us have been relegated to niche gamers.
"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY." --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
