Well the SRW OG Saga games that Monolith made were published by Namco in Japan...

I'm pretty sure they published Monolith's DBZ game as well

It's probably got something to do with how Namco still owns 16% of Monolith.  Maybe it was the part of the agreement when Namco sold the other 80% they used to own to Nintendo.  Maybe it's also because Nintendo wants to please 3rd parties.  I'm not too sure really.
