Not many people are willing to take that big of a jump. I have led lamps to replace my Halogen lamps (much less heat is nice)... they weren't all that expensive.
It's funny though that this spam thread is actually mostly a sensible article on the Leds... I recall reading an article 15 years ago on how leds were the future. With their incorporation into everything and the use as flashlights for phones, I started to think that the prices were getting quite decent.
in any case when LEDs should be one of the major push of the green parties and such... Cars to electric... there are many downsides, but light to led.... win win all arround and considering the amount of light we use, the ecological outcome might be worth the shift in focus.
