I don't see anything wrong with numbing the pain while your immune system takes care of the illness itself. Some bacterial/viral infections need medication to be cured. But viral infections like colds/flu cannot be treated with antibiotics AT ALL, but you can cure the symptoms with painkillers. Other medicines like antidepressants or cancer drugs are essential in specific cases.
Modern medicine is one of the reasons why humans are living longer. I agree with you to an extent about lifestyle but people have to work to earn money to survive.

The first sentence in the OP is basically saying that medicin is a good thing, and I agree with all the things you've outlined.
My point however, was that when things in your life are making you feel bad, giving you headaches or whatever, then taking a pill is not the right course of action. You need to fix the problem in your life that is causing you these hardships. If you're getting headaches because of your job, then try to do something about your job to change that, and not just take a pill to make the pain go away momentarily. The pain will come back if you don't fix the problem.

It's the same situation that I described above. If something in your life is causing you to get these headaches, then a painkiller is nothing then something that allows you to ignore what's wrong.
Taking a painkiller because you can't fix things at the moment is fine, but taking pills is not the solution, and that's what I'm talking about. We need to look at what is causing the pain in our daily lives and deal with that, rather than just trying to make the pain stop for a moment. If you're feeling pain, your body is telling you that something is wrong.

That's what I'm talking about, glad to hear your opinions on the matter.
