I think it's biggest hurt is that it's a series which only sells in America, and the PS3 just doesn't hold as much weight in America as it used to. I'm one of the few EU Socom fans and the game is utterly dead here, only the core from the Socom 2 days still buy and play the game. It did okay imo as I really see no reason the game should sell all that well.
I enjoy it and still think it's the best online shooter thing on PS3 (Don't enjoy first person / respawn) but Zipper did a lot wrong. It ended up this mishmash of part COD and part Socom and didn't really please either side in the end. Think this is a series Sony would have more success just doing a more, back to it's roots PSN release with a constant supply of DLC.
