After the encouraging debut of Zelda: OoT 3D in Japan, I'm thinking ahead about the next software release that may put up significant numbers and potentially drive hardware sales also (skipping past Tales). Super Pokemon Scramble is releasing at the end of July (27th), and while Pokemon spinoffs don't perform nearly as strongly as mainline games, they still put up solid numbers in Japan. Here are the numbers for the Pokemon spinoffs on the DS.
| Game | First Week | Lifetime |
| Mystery Dungeon: Darkness/Time | 593k | 1.54 mil |
| Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue | N/A | 829k |
| Pokemon Ranger | 197k | 770k |
| Ranger: Shadows of Almia | 242k | 622k |
| Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky | 141k | 442k |
| Ranger: Guardian Signs | 179k | 576k |
| Pokemon: Trozei! | 58k | 320k |
| Pokemon Dash | 55k | 375k |
The newest DS spinoff is the typing game which launched to 58k, and is currently at 129k.
There is a pretty big range in first week sales figures ranging from decent to huge. The worst performing spinoffs seem to be unique genres (typing, racing, puzzle), and since Super Pokemon Rumble is an action game, that makes me think it will perform better than those games. But I'm not sure it will be able to reach the levels of the bottom performing Mystery Dungeion or Ranger games.
So based on that I'm expecting first week sales of Super Pokemon Ruble to be around 80k, and lifetime around 400k.
What does everyone else think, and how do you think it will impact 3DS hardware sells? Anyone think there is a chance it will top Zelda as having the highest 1st week of a 3DS title yet?
