Some comments on this:

  • The like / dislike is primarily to aid in user moderation - i.e the hiding of spammers and other obviously poor comments that can now just be voted down and hidden.
  • The threaded system allows you to reply to a given comment below it - this is where the "timely order" comes in and is the same with wall posts etc - people need to get used to the idea of using the sub comments to have a conversation rather than back and forth by posting main wall comments.
  • We could have an option to order by post time as well but this system works well and is being done in a lot of other places - you just have to get used to it.

The idea is that you read down the main comments, each one on a different subject and ordered from most agreed to least agreed and if any strike a chord with you then you hit to view the replies and explore that comment in more depth and maybe offer your own. In theory I think it is a great system, people just need to get used to it.

thing is, since we're used to quoting in the forums instead of "replying", I guess most of us think the reply is the same as just a post in the quick comment box. (I didn't know there was threaded replies myself).
