Fortunately for us the game scored a 38/40 with Famitsu so at least we aren't setting ourselves up for a terrible disappointment when we finally play it. Regarding the release date, it seems possible to me Nintendo is trying to have 2012 labeled as 'the year of the hardcore'* in terms of their support, both on the software and hardware front, in order to do a so called one-two punch against the audience they wish to attract. It's too bad this sort of thing comes at the expense of decent software during 2011... *starting with Zelda during the holiday season, and continuing with the launch of Wii U (with a hardcore 3rd party line-up) along with several key RPGs (last story, xenoblade etc), Pikmin 3 (!!) as well as DQX later in the year. If Nintendo can get a Starfox or an FZero out during 2012 too, it would be one EPIC year for them. |
Interesting theory; Nintendo basically won't have any Wii games on its plate for next year's release schedule, so the least they could do is release both XENOBLADE and THE LAST STORY stateside for 2012, stealthily, if they have to. Something tells me that may be the case, but we'll just have to wait and see.
