Wii U won't support DVD or Blu-Ray playback... your thoughts?

That's not the point. What would you prefer?

1.) A DVD Player, Blu-Ray Player, A hifi system and a console,

2.) A system that does all of the above.

Not only does it save space, ressources and money, it also makes it much more comfortable to use the features. You need to install less cables and switching between DVD player function and video game function is much easier.

Nintendo is not a media company. They are a videogame company. Besides, you were probably in the same group of people that said Wii should have DVD playback and didn't buy that either. So why do you care?

perhaps he was considering the Wii U? I know I was despite ignoring the wii cos it sounded like Ninty had stepped their game up but the more I hear, the more I feel like it's a waste.
