"The developers will want develop for whatever is the easiest, best system to develop on."
That is a bad entertainment attitude. The developers are not supposed to just make the games they want in the way they want. The greatest entertainers, which includes people that can make games and movies, have to bust their asses to please the audience, not themselves.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
