Why do People prefer to shoot People?

FPSs are popular because they're fast and take some skill with the fingers to get good. Action adventure games and RPGs are generally a little more relaxed...and sometimes gamers just want a crazy fast-paced shooter to get some adrenaline pumping.

You can get pretty into a game, and you can put yourself in the character's shoes, getting scared when shot, etc...but again, it's not really about shooting and killing people...it could be water balloon guns and pigs running around, and if the game was good, it'd still be fun.
