It's a great concept with tons of potential (the tablet at least) but was horribly presented. Video games journalists aren't exactly the most intelligent people out there but Nintendo should have conveyed the ideas of the new console better than they did. There's also the current confusion about the possible limits of the tablet controller and logic suggests the device/controller will likely be quite pricey.

Add to that the fact they used PS3/360 footage in the demos reel and it's an unbelievable rookie error (even if it was funny to look at the comments of people saying PS3/360 games look better). Sony got panned for having target render footage of Killzone 2 but actually running/showing games on rival hardware to sell your own product? Overall, it felt a bit last minute and was ultimately a rushed reveal. It may have been better for Nintendo to wait a few extra months (like TGS) when they had some nice new footage and games to show off. We'll get a much better idea of how well the console will work over the next few months but for now, it's not that suprising people are skeptical.
