you dont need dialouge or cutsecenes to have great characters. nintendo has the most memorable characters in gaming, but so many ninendo games forgo story. smb 1 and smb 3 are examples of how mario is a loveable character who grew on so many people, but those games had no convoluted story. they pretty much had no story other than save the princess, some kings are animals, save us. and that was enough to have mario be a cultural icon. nintendo really doesnt need story, they just need good gameplay and awesome universes to set their games in.

You keep putting words in my post. I never said they needed a story. They can do whatever they want, but storytelling can be used to add and make games better. And its the reason why i dont finish mario games. Theres just no point. I could play games with fun gameplay, with a story and interesting characters instead. Like bioshock for example.

my b, dont mean to. but i dont see why you need a story to finish a game. the point of finishing a mario game is to explore the games worlds and create your own adventure. a story does help, sure, but it all depends how its told. i feel that backstory should be in the manual or optonal to read and major story developments should be played, not watched in a cutscene. it seems like you just want to watch interactive movies.
