There's no denying that it would have been awesome if it released this fall with skyward sword, skyrim, the witcher 2 and oh well modern warfare 3 as launch titles.
That would give it some time to get a proper head start on the next consoles of sony and ms.
Late 2012 after zelda has been released and probably announcements have been made for the next ms and sony consoles might indeed be too late to get the hardcore to switch over.
But who knows what Nintendo has up its sleeves. By 2012 the casual market will be looking for the next new thing after Kinect. Maybe too late for the 'core' market, right on time for the casual market.
