Actually, I'd say that whether or not something should be illegal is a very important fact. Unjust laws should be activeley opposed.

Unjust? Hardly. There was a study conducted a few months ago, stating the harmful effects of this. (Source: http://alcoholism.about.com/od/pot/a/effects.-Lya.htm ) While it is true that both tobacco and alcohol are also harmful, history has shown that trying to outlaw an addictive substance that was once legal doesn't work. (Most known example is prohibition.) So, while I personally would like both of those to also be made illegal, I know that it won't happen, because people will continue to find a way to get and use them. Why, then, should we legalize another substance that is known to cause harm to its users and those around them?

Marijuana is already very popular, and it's simply not going away. Marijuana also has medical benefits. I've seen studies saying that it's by far the least dabgerous drug, and it also has known medical benefits. I don't think that alcohol should be illegal, and because of that I see no reason why marijuana should be. I also am skeptical of studies funded by the Government regarding marijuana, mainly due to their "war on drugs", which is itself an industry for the Government. The wordings from these reports could easily be manipulated to suggest that rare side-effects are quite common, for example (not to mention that I've often seen stuff simply made up).

 

Not to mention that by this rationale junk food should be banned, along with who knows else what. You can't just go around banning everything because some people don't like it.
