Actually you are kinda right, PSD`s and PS`s politics in time won`t/wouldn`t be all that different. That`s why manby have accused - especially BE and CDU - of PS going right - or is that, wrong? :D About PSD, the other during a roundtable someone said "PSD is right wing" and was refuted by a lady in PSD claiming that they were Socialist and Democratic! First time i heard someone from PSD refuse to labeled right wing - which is fair since Passos Coelho seems to be more concerned about the social state than other PSD leaders. The problem with CDU and BE, to me at least, is that they leave in a pink world, where the state should always provide - even when it can`t, it should. |
Pretty much, especially since the Troika demands will affect a lot of the socialist measures in our constitution, thus the heightned concern from Passos Coelho about the social state than the majority of PSD leaders.
I'm also glad that PSD won, not that I support them, but because with a majority governemnt (even if it's a coalition) will allow Portugal to weather the FMI and Troika storm with less side-effects than if a minority goverment from PS would suffer. A minority PS goverment would only mean than in another 2 years we would have a new election and most of the Troika and european demands would be vetoed in Parlament, especially from the left wing aisle (CDU and BE).
