What should Ninty do else?
Release cheaper, older HW? Or newest tech for high price?
WiiU is compatible with all Wii Remotes, Balance Boards etc. and Wii games, of course.
Just adding HD graphichs wouldn't be enough, so they added something new. The "it" thing now, tablet-gaming.
Why shouldn't that step add new gamers?
I still hope for multi-tablet support, but even with one tablet and 4 remotes it should be a new experience.
And 3DS is the king, until Vita dethrones it. I doubt that will happen. If Vita would sell better than 3DS, 3DS price will fall, until 3DS>Vita.
Same situation as last gen, if you ask me.
Your 1st posting was off the mark, why should your last one in the other direction be a tiny bit better?
