There is something preventing them from being sold, like, umm....THE FACT THAT SONY OWNS THEM! Insomniac has no say in Ratchet being sold because it isn't their IP to begin with. The same goes for Naughty Dog and the Jak series. They are both owned by Sony.

Several people have already explained this to you, but you keep repeating the same crap over and over and over again.

From a purely hypothetical perspective, you can't say that (pretty much) any of Sony's franchises could not be sold. Unlike Nintendo, most of Sony and Microsoft's developers are distinct buisness units that are seperate from SCE; this means that you can (effectively) sell each of these developers without having much of a negative impact on the structure of your company. Whether or not they would do this is largely questionable ... Unless Sony drops the price of the PS3 to $400, and SCE is forced by Sony to build operating capital to balance out the losses, I don't see much reason to sell any developers ATM.
