The wuestion has to be asked, with Nintendo not showing a single game at E3 and only briefly mentioning SmashBros which is only now starting development and Pikmin3 which we don't know how far along that title is. What will Nintendo do for the launch line-up for WiiU?
Will Nintendo amaze us with a huge AAA+ first party line-up like never seen before. Nintendo has in the past launched several first party titles at launch. When the Wii launched Nintendo promised seven first party launch titles though they renagged on that promise it shows that Nintendo is willing to really throw some major support behind their platform. Could we see up to seven first party heavy hitting titles launch with WiiU? Would you like to see Nintendo just overwhelm us with first party software?
Or the more moderate approach which Nintendo took with Wii, DS and 3DS. Launch 2 or 3 first party titles. Usually one is a heavy hitter while the other two are lesser known franchises. Launch these three titles in conjunction with a small amount of third party titles to accompany them. With the recent 3DS we saw Nintendo release a big heavy hitter (Nintendogs) alongside PilotWings and SteelDiver. Then alongside Nintendo's smaller line-up their were a few third party titles like Street Fighter. Do you want to see a small mix of third party and first party titles?
Or how about the third party approach. Not done by Nintendo in recent memory. Launch the platform with perhaps one first party title but an array of third party software. Nintendo could give third parties a chance to dominate the WiiU and just stick out of the market until a later date. This would mean virtually no first party presence at launch giving third parties the chance to dominate!
Or last but not least, over kill. Launch 5-7 first party titles alongside another 10-15 third party titles. Overwhelm the gamers with the best that both Nintendo and third parties have to offer. The only problem with this way of launching is with so many titles and so few hardware units they would canabolize each others market share and lead to lesser sales in the immediate future. But it would definatly give the consumer more choice.
So which do you want Nintendo to do with their launch line up?
-Nintendo takes the lead with many first party hits
-Nintendo launches a few games, third parties launch a few games
-Nintendo hands over the launch line-up to third parties giving them a chance to dominate
-Nintendo and third parties launch everything they can and just swamp the market day one
