I think if they can limit the amount of things on the screen, two tablets will be doable. Case in point, let's take a popular local multiplayer game like Madden. If they put the pre snap play selections on the tablet instead of the screen and you each select them there so the other player can't see, and you draw up audibles on the screen too, but the gameplay is still played on your TV, I think that can probably work. However they can't show you the game itself on each controller. Peter Moore lightly demonstrated that was the direction they were going to take with Madden, so it's leading me to believe they've had access to the console and have gotten a prototype of it working with more than one controller.
Do I think it'll revolutionize knocking out split screen multiplayer like in shooters and racing games and letting you both play off your tablets? No. Do I think they can find a way to allow complimentary info and data to be broadcasted to both controllers at once? Yes
