I Agree. While 4 tablets (btw, does it have a name?) are unlikely, the possibility to use 2 in certain games may be viable.
Sure, the new controller has a screen, but in terms of buttons or analog sticks a classic controller has the same, and even the combo wiimote+nunchuk has as many buttons.
And why would 4 people play local mutiplayer with 4 of those? For the screen? If 4 people are playing then there is the TV, otherwise there would be no difference between that and playing multiplayer online.
Having said that, for minigames titles like Wario, the use of 2 tablets (2 teams with tablet each) may be fun.
