It's actually really tight, if you play a lot of MHTri on it, you get used to it very quickly. I also have the old Classic Controller, and that thing was no doubt a pain in my ass without grips though, but I'm happy with the Pro, it feels better than the Dual Shock 3 analog and is about on par with the 360 one, analog speaking anyways. It's pretty much the same analog stick on GC controllers, and the GC controller has recieved a lot of praises when it came to the analog feel.
