If he didn't care he wouldn't listen. Iwata: *Sweating during presentation, intent on increasing appreciation for Nintendo consoles by making them wider and deeper. Miyamoto: *Brings in a friggin orchestra to celebrate Link and Zelda's 25th anniversary. These guys definitely care about their business in a personal way, and I'll add that the title for their next bet (Wii U) is definitely something they put much thought into. To support, Reggie mentioned 2 or 3 variations of what the title could mean. If he didn't care why would he? |
I meant specifically about the name of the console, not about the business. At some point they decided on keeping the Wii brand, so the next logical step was attaching a letter or two to the original name. The 'U' was obviously chosen because of "you" (same as wii=we), suggesting more focus on the individual, the 'core', and not just the group, ie. the casuals..
Everything else after that is just market-speak and empty wordplay... I seriously cringed when Reggie mentioned 'Utopian'... how lame can you get??
Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!
