With the annoucement of the PSV's very competitive pricepoint with the 3DS at Sony's press conference many jumped to the conclusion that the PSV's more powerful feature set and inclusion of home console like graphics have sunk the 3DS ship in the water. Before Nintendo's press conference, It seemed very logical. However, Does the WiiU's new touch screen that enables next generation graphics streamed into the palm of the users hands also compete directly With the PSV, could 3DS and WiiU work together to topple Sony's new handheld?
With the WiiU's high definition graphics being streamed to a handheld device, PSV's tech advantage could possibly be dwafed in comparison. It would also be interesting to eventually compare the battery life of a PSV and Wiiu tablet. If the WiiU lasted longer ( this all speculation) sony could be in a lot of trouble with the PSV.
However the PSV has one obvious advantage over the WiiU tablet. It is completely portable, allowing gamers to play in the car, on the train, in a plane etc. Wheresas the WiiU tablet would be restricted to in home use. It could come down to how well sony ulilises this big difference in the two to truely separate itself from Nintendo's next home console. With 3G enabled models It seems Sony is very commited to a quality portable experience.
Then there is the 3DS. 3DS is another portable experience. It separates itself from the PSV with the inclusion of glassesless 3D. So It does have a feature that the WiiU cannot replicate in that 3D effect. Could the combination of 3DS and WiiU ownership make a PSV far less unique choice in the market? As now the PSV, when compared to both, has very few truely unique features.
Whilst this is all merely speculation I think it is very interesting to examine Nintendo's intriguing approach to its new home Console, could Nintendo be trying two use both of its new systems in tandem to try and sway possible buyers away from the PSV?
What are you guys' views on this. I would be very interested to see what others think . :)
